Napkins & Placemats

I made these about a month ago for a family reunion raffle/auction...they turned out cute. I love this Moda line- so retro!

If you want to try and make your own it's very simple:
Napkins- cut 2 squares of fabric(I think mine were 18x18). Sew right sides together, leaving a small opening...turn right side out...sew opening shut...topstitch around the whole napkin and ta da- a napkin!
Placemat- cut 2 rectangles of fabric (I think my dimensions were 15x22???). Just like the napkin, sew right sides together...but add a thin layer of batting on top (so you're sewing all 3 layers together)- then follow the rest of the napkin instructions- ta da again!

I finally took pictures of the nursery. Enjoy! I used mostly fabrics from Amy Butler's Midwest Modern line- so cute...

I Made Some More Headbands

I made some headbands to match these cute dresses I made a few months ago...they turned out cute. I've had so much fun making headbands lately...I made, like, 9 headbands last week. No particular reason for making that many- just something fun to do w/all of the scrap fabric that keeps accumulating in my house.

I Made Aprons

I looked all over for the perfect apron tutorial on the internet but could NOT find what I was looking for. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of cute aprons out there (especially the half-apron style) but I was looking for a full-apron style with clean, simple lines. My solution? I made up my own. I think they turned our great- and the best part? They're reversible! I totally rock!

This...

...reverses to this.

And this...

...reverses to this.

Hmmm...maybe I should do my own apron tutorial...

I Made Headbands

I decided to go a little headband crazy- they are so easy to make! I found a couple of tutorials on the web but this SITE ended up being the easiest. Way cute to match w/dresses!

Sewing Room

Because our office has always been taken over by my "craft stuff" I finally decided to get it organized and decorate it how I wanted- to make it more "craft stuff" friendly. I sold the computer desk, moved stuff around, bought shelves and a sewing armoire. I painted the room an aqua color. I asked Brian what he thought of the color- I couldn't even get an intelligible response- it was like a grumble/sigh/clearing of throat noise. And then later he said "well at least I don't have to go in there very often." Oh well...I love the aqua. Anyways, the room isn't completely done but it's a start!

I'm a Nerd

So I started a blog for all of my various homemaking, sewing, crafty-ish projects...yup, I'm a nerd.
