Random Projects

Oh, my poor little neglected craft blog. But really, I only have like 2 readers so it's no big deal. I have been busy though with lots of projects over the past month since returning back from vacation.

My daughter received her first set of scriptures and thus, needed a scripture bag. I used some scraps leftover from a diaper bag I made my sister-in-law (which shame on me I never took a picture of it before mailing it off to her). It turned out pretty cute!

A friend I met through the American Women's Club is having a baby. She is choosing not to find out if it's a boy or girl. She picked out the fabric and I made her a crib bedding set- quilt, crib bumper, and crib skirt (shame on me again for only taking a picture of the quilt).

The girls had a story book day at school and had to dress up as a character from a book they like. Kaiya wanted to be Red Riding Hood. I totally bombed the first "hood"- it was way too big. But the 2nd one turned out ok. And Emi was determined to be Little Mermaid. I loosely followed this tutorial. And then used a strip of extra fabric to make a "nipple cover" (that's what my 5 year old called it- lovely).

New Dresses, Again

Using up some Sandi Henderson fabric, I made these easy-peasy dresses. I love the waistbands...got the waitband idea from HERE. Adding a waistband to a peasant dress is such a great idea- wish I would've thought of it earlier.

Had some leftover fabric and made some matching hair clips!

Baptism Quiet Book

My oldest is getting baptized in a few months (we're Mormon). Gleaning some inspiration from this website HERE (I love her quiet book designs!) I decided to make one for my oldest on baptism. I'm pretty proud of myself...it took me a good couple of days to put it together. I plan on printing these out in 4x6 size and stuffing them into a cheap mini-album with baptism pics of her extended family members following the last page showing Christ getting baptized. I think she'll love looking at it during church and seeing all of her cousins baptism pictures too.

If you want to download it for yourself here's the LINK. Of course, you'll want to edit out the picture of my hubby/daughter and put it your own...

Knit Dresses

My girls like dresses. My 2 yr old insists on wearing a dress every single day- she will NOT change out of her jammies unless she knows she gets to put on a dress. Needless to say, we are always in need of dresses around our house. In particular, comfy play dresses. So when I found a good deal on some knit fabric I thought, maybe I'll whip up a few dresses. So I did.

Peasant-style dress...you like the mismatched, too big shoes?!

I bought a cute dress at Target for the girls. I kept saying, I bet I could make this- it looks easy. So I gave it a go and miraculously it turned out. I love flutter sleeves.

My daughter is showing you her new "silver" teeth (though you can't really see it from this angle).

Wall Quilt

I finished this months ago but I didn't hang it up in the nursery until last week...b/c I'm lazy that way. I think the crocheted edging on the flowers turned out pretty darn cute!

Ignore the husband goofing off and trying to disrupt my photo shoot.

I would start another quilt but I'm all out of inspiration right now...I need ideas...!

Dresses

I've had this Patricia Bravo fabric laying around for ages. Every once in awhile I'd pick it up, love it, and admire it...but then it went right back on the shelf. So FINALLY, I decided I needed to do something. I came up with this:

I used this PATTERN and added length to turn it in to a dress...also added a sash around the waist.

I used this LINK to make this dress. The pattern is for a shirt but I modified it, adding length for a dress.

The other dress I followed this PATTERN to the letter...although it probably took me 90 minutes instead of the 1 hr.

Seriously, I have a new respect for photographers of child models...my kids cannot stay still for more than one nanosecond. It's pathetic but these pics are the best I have.

Bobble Dresses

When I saw this pattern HERE, I knew I had try it...in puke green (b/c every girl always dreams of wearing a puke green dress, right?!) The original pattern fit my middle child. I added a scalloped edge b/c I wanted more length...plus it's pretty. Then I made up a pattern for a bobble beanie to match. After making one dress/beanie, I realized my other 2 girls needed one also. So then I adjusted the original pattern to fit my other girls...the results were so, so cute.

Maybe when I have the time I can post the pattern for my bobble beanie for my 2 crocheting followers out there...!
